Permaculture

Calmadow Trust is working in partnership with the Permaculture Research Institute to restore a large watershed (valley) in the Calmadow region. When finished, the entire area will be transformed from desert to forest. Wildlife will return and the local community will have clean drinking water year-round, as well as abundant food.

About Permaculture

Permaculture is about observing how natural systems work and then applying the same principles to your farm or garden, or to any other aspect of life). A permaculture design has no waste and no expensive inputs, ensuring a long-term sustainable system that will over time provide abundant living with little work.

The Permaculture Research Institute of Australia is famous for its work in Dryland permaculture, with many ongoing and successful projects around the world. (See PRI link in sidebar on the right.)
